This year we have come up with a new take on our Collector’s Case. Instead of last year’s model of four varietals of all Bien Nacido Wines, this year we have paired it back to a six pack from all three of our vineyards: Bien Nacido Vineyards, Solomon Hills Vineyards, and French Camp Vineyards.
As the main focus of this year’s case, we are pleased to invite you to experience Pinot Noir, as it manifests itself in the soils of our Bien Nacido and Solomon Hills Vineyards. Our “Pinot Noir Collector’s Case” features five distinctive, thoughtfully made interpretations of Pinot Noir, including the 2005 Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara Historic Vineyard Collection Bien Nacido, 2004 Byron Bien Nacido, 2005 Fess Parker Bien Nacido, 2004 J. Wilkes Solomon Hills, and 2005 Summerland Solomon Hills Vineyards.
For over three decades, many winemakers have chosen to make their wines with the fruit of Bien Nacido Vineyards. Each winemaker has approached the fruit of Bien Nacido differently, from the way in which they have asked us to farm their individual rows, to how they have vinified the grapes in their cellars. Each vintage, we have the rare opportunity of observing how it is that these varied, creative winemakers choose to interpret the fruit of our family vineyard.
In subsequent vintages, our Collectors Case selections will change, but the quality and vision will remain the same; to exhibit the typicity of our vineyards, while saluting the stylistic choices of some of the Golden States™ most talented winemakers.
We suggest that you take notes as you enjoy your taste through the vineyard as each bottle holds its own unique finesse and character.
We have enclosed an additional bottle for your enjoyment. The 2006 “High on the Hog” white Rhone-style blend is made by Barrel 27, and grown at our beloved French Camp Vineyards.
Cheers!
