I have had some fantastic Old World Pinot Blancs and in Europe those wines seem to be accepted. I've had some fantastic Pinot Blancs from the Central Coast. Not only from Bien Nacido, but other producers such as Laetitia winery, Steele, Byron, Epiphany and more, yet you rarely see it on a wine list. Its still a wine that makes for a hunt. Especially in this craze of Pinot Noir and backlash to Chard (re: ABC - Anything But Chard campaign), it seems a wine like Pinot Blanc would be a logical alternative. Instead It seems people are drawn to Pinot Gris/Grigio a much simplier wine in my opinion. Why haven't Americans embraced Pinot Blancs?

I think for years Pinot Blanc has been dubbed as the "Poor man's Chardonnay" and its been a hard label to shake.
Plus much of the world's best Pinot Blancs are still grown in areas that most Americans find hard to pronounce the labels and producers. Its no wonder wine lists don't stock them, people wouldn't know how to order them.
